Trieste, the Authority acquires the Special Agency for the Port of Monfalcone

TRIESTE - The Management Committee of the Port System Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea has approved the acquisition of the Special Agency for the Port of Monfalcone.
The Company, emanating from of the Chamber of Commerce of Venezia Giulia, was tasked with developing the port with service activities, management of areas for port traffic and promotional initiatives. The decision, already approved by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, is the result of the inclusion of the harbour in the Port Network Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea. The inclusion, which involved the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region, will be completed in the coming weeks with the signing of an institutional agreement between the public institution, to complete the transfer of competences for the management of the Port of Monfalcone.
As a result of the transaction, the assets and areas will be acquired by the State property managed by the Authority. It is therefore an important enhancement of the public assets: the operation will unify the legal system of management of the areas through the institution of the state grant. In this way, private investments with a direct benefit on the development of port traffic will be favored.
For the port of Monfalcone this is an epochal turning point that will allow a general synergy with Trieste, to exploit the full potential of Monfalcone, in particular for the traffic of cellulose, cars and steel products.
